Indeed the forms of the two pivoted banks of duplex flats have a boxed vertical dynamic, more reminiscent of the architecture of Denys Lasdun’s Keeling House than the Seifert building to which it attaches. For the Sultan’s Venetian fixer, Gritti, it ends with him being brutally executed by the locals in Transylvania where he was Suleyman’s representative and where Suleyman left him to his fate. It was a niggle but certainly didn’t spoil our stay and the cottage itself more than makes up for this. These days, Lion House it is a separate entity and has been transformed into a grade two listed family home.
