I think the only option I really have left is to shoot Luke in his goddamn smug face and get Sloan out of here while I still can. Sure, she’s going to be a little traumatized. But we could go to therapy or something whenever we get settled again. She’s going to need it after being brainwashed like she was. Invective words were thrown into this story like sugar in cake. I do not have any problems with a bit swearing in books, but this was over the top.

As all good writers realize, she writes what she knows – family, friendship, change, and especially love. Her plots and characters have immense appeal among young women readers, and she sets her characters in modern day situations of friendship, new relationships, first love, and heartbreak. Slammed The agents of large publishing houses are starting to take a closer look at self-publishing sales. These are indicators of trends and have led to a new category for publishers to consider, that of young adult romance fiction. so there you have it. how am i supposed to positively rate a book that i really quite enjoyed but dont want to be too generous because there is one major flaw that my conscience wont allow me to overlook? its so much better than 3 stars (its at least a 4), but i personally feel way too guilty with giving anything over that. ughhh.But, at the same time, he’s introduced to the audience as an undercover DEA agent who, along with his partner Dawson, is on a mission to end Asa’s antics once and for all.)

She has an abusive boyfriend, Asa, and she stays with him since he pays the bills for her brother's care. He treats her poorly, he is violent and shows little redeeming qualities. This Girl Sloan lives with Asa in his house which is a revolving door of sex, drugs, and debauchery. She never has a quiet moment to herself and finds it difficult to concentrate or study — especially when she’s awoken by Asa having sex with her while she is half asleep in the wee hours of the morning. When I read that Too Late would be “different than anything CoHo has ever written before” my reaction was pretty much . . . Luke sends Sloan up to bed with Asa against his better judgment, but he knows he has no other choice without blowing his cover to the rest of the people in the house.

I guess that’s the difference between being loved the right way and the wrong way. You either feel tethered to an anchor….or you feel like you’re flying. Release Date: The “definitive edition” of Too Late was released on June 27, 2023. It was self-published in various formats throughout the decade beforehand. Like I said, I MOTHERF*& Too Late by Colleen Hoover was an interesting book in that it’s one of two in her catalog (the other being Verity) with very dark messages and undertones.

It’s embarrassingto admit the truth to someone. but can all that allow me to forget that i cant stand the way mental illness is portrayed in this and hows its harmfully used as a plot device to further develop a certain character as a villain? i am all for hating characters if they are large pieces of trash and have no redeemable qualities. but i dont know if i can promote, even condone, a story which utilises the actions of an untreated mental illness as a way to get the reader to hate a character. if anything, i just felt sad and sympathetic for them towards the end, hating the way the other characters treated him, instead. You mean good morning," I say, as I reluctantly pull myself out of bed. My t-shirt is bunched around my waist, so I pull it down and grab some pants and a different shirt. Asa is paying thousands of dollars a month to cover his expenses for treatment. She puts up with a lot from Asa from physical and mental abuse to being him in house sex slave (her term, not mine). It’s at this point that Asa enters the room and the agents depart. It’s revealed that Luke has been set up — the agents were all hired by Asa, and this was Asa’s way of getting Luke to come clean and learn why he has really been around lately. Spice Level: We don’t feel we can appropriately rate the spice level of this book, given the sexual assault content.

Too Late: A Novel” is one the best and most entertaining novels with a very unique and impressive story. Colleen Hoover is the author of this fantastic novel. Colleen is the author of many beautiful novels. Her most famous novels are Slammed, It Ends with Us, Verity, Ugly Love, November 9, Finding Cinderella, This Girl, Point of Retreat, Losing Hope and many fantastic novels. This novel is also a wise, deep, moving epic by an exceptional writer. The author brings her game A and gives us a mind-blowing story. These characters are unique and refreshing. There are fabulous stand-alone set pieces, engaging characters, glorious prose and a soul-stirring look into the various lives of human.

And everything I want.” I cannot comprehend why the main narrator does not find a job or whatever like a typical college student... I attempt to pull my hands out from beneath his, but he squeezes them tighter, reminding me that I'm nothing more than a prisoner in my own bed, and he's the warden of the bedroom. Asa has always had a way of making me feel like my body was at his disposal. He's never mean or forceful about it; he's just needy-and I find it really inconvenient. Asa uses medication to increase and decrease ankle swelling, enabling him to remove his ankle bracelet and put it on Anthony, the only friend he has working for him, and heads to Sloan and Luke’s apartment. Colleen Hoover put EVERYTHING into Too Late….let me tell ya. It held this my attention for sure, which is not an easy task.
