About this deal
A reality show isn't the best place to create a solid foundation, and their fake wedding might just derail their relationship before it even starts. If you’re looking for a quick, breezy romance novel that will leave you believing in true love, then D'Vaughn and Kris Plan a Wedding is absolutely for you. While is touching on serious issues like coming out and body positivities it also has zero angst and that somehow takes the story on a too good to be true path for me.
Higgins gives world-weary readers looking for an inclusive and thoroughly enjoyable escape exactly what they need. Kris wants love and D'Vaughn needs to come out to her family, and those goals are way ahead of winning the show for both of them. Her main motivation for going on the show is to come out to her family, which she’s never been able to bring herself to do.She shines mostly in the performance of some characters, especially when there is humor and histrionics involved.
Something else I appreciated about this story is how straightforward D’Vaughn and Kris’s relationship was. Also I'm always here for exploring mother-daughter relationships so I appreciated how D'Vaughn's relationship with her mom was handled. This will be a perfect read to anyone who loves reality show romances, fake engagement romances, and romances that make you fall in love right alongside the characters.
