Grief and addiction are strong themes throughout, and it was interesting seeing these things being tackled in a horror novel. But it all comes together to create a really well-written and great horror novel that I highly recommend. I had a few books that were must grabs at ALAAC22, and “Ghost Eaters” by Clay McLeod Chapman was on that list. Ghost Eatersis one of those rare horror novels that have everything: a dash of humor, real life demons, complex characters, a heavy dose of the supernatural, and the kind of ending you never forget.

The problem is, she just wanted to see ONE ghost in particular, that of Silas, her ex boyfriend who had a huge emotional hold on her and their friend group. I was invested in this story right from the opening scene, a flashback where the four main friends featured in the story sneak into a cemetery at night and break into a mausoleum.A council he never attended, even as the thirty mighty Lords of Chaos gathered, he was taking their beastmen chattel from them and slaughtering their witches - He left it to Chaell to speak to them.
